Scapes: the portayal of a scenic view at The Art Store

The Art Store is pleased to participate in the first Charleston ArtWalk of the 2015 season at our downtown gallery with a selection of works titled Scapes: the portrayal of a scenic view. The exhibition explores images whose principal subject is the view of a real, imaginary or idealized scenes.
Scapes is an invitational exhibition in which works exploring the idea of expanse through landscape, seascape, cityscape and sky were chosen. Artists include Steven Barbash, Jason Berger, Katherine Cox, Jan Griffin, Henry Isaacs, Ed Kellogg, Larry Leach, Susan Petryszak, Susan Poffenbarger, David Riffle, Ellie Schaul, Stephen Smigocki, George Snyder and more. Invited artists include the new Director of Marshall University’s School of Art and Design, Sandra Reed, the Chair of the School of Fine Arts at the University of Rio Grande, Benjy Davies, as well as well-known painter and teacher Arthur Evans.
The exhibiting artists are members of professional artist associations, have shown nationally in group, solo and invitational shows. The artists are included in many private and public collections around the world such as the Museum of Modern Art, New York, NY, American Institute of Architects, Washington, DC, the Yale University Art Gallery, the Clay Center, Charleston, WV, Herbert H. Johnson Museum of Art, Cornell University, NY, and Central Academy of Fine Arts, Beijing.
