The Art Emporium: New Works by April Waltz
The Art Emporium will be featuring "The April Show: New Works by April Waltz" for April's ArtWalk. "The April Show" will run April 14th - May 16th and her opening will take place during ArtWalk on April 16th.
April Waltz lives in Wheeling, West Virginia with her husband Dr. Thomas Waltz DO of OVMC, and their three year old daughter Sky Melody Waltz. April has been a lifelong creative. She has a Bachelor of Arts degree from Washington and Jefferson College with a major in fine art and a minor in psychology. April has exhibited and participated with many art groups locally including Stifel Fine Arts Center, Tamarack, Wheeling artisan center, and Steubenville Art Association. She is a Signature Member of the West Virginia Watercolor Society.
April feels she is an abstractionist at heart. The possibilities within abstract painting are infinite, even though they are trapped on the page. April strives to create paintings that vibrate with trapped energy. She loves to create harmony and dissonance between pure colors, and to create a pleasing balance of space, movement, and pattern through simple lines and shapes, in the hopes of conveying feelings that go beyond words.
Although she has used many other media, most of her recent works have been watercolors. April has learned to love the happy accidents that the media provides. She loves the purity and vibrancy of color that can be achieved with sheer washes over bright white paper. The flexibility of watercolor has brought her back to realism and traditional representation in some pieces; however, the essentials of expression through color and composition are always her first priority.
