Beauty in Oils Debuts at The Art Emporium

The Art Emporium will debut a new show "Beauty in Oils" featuring the work of Tamarack artist Karen Chamblin during ArtWalk July 16.

 

The show will run through Aug. 15 and is comprised of new still life paintings. Chamblin is a member of Oil Painters Of America, Society of  Decorative Painters, Women Artists Of America, West Virginia Arts And Crafts Guild, National Oil And Acrylic Painters and the Parkersburg Art Center. 

 

Karen was juried in and accepted as an Artisan at Tamarack in March 2011. She was awarded second place in two-dimensional work for her entry in the 2009 Regional Art Exhibition at the Parkersburg Art Center, for the first work she had ever entered into an art competition.  She was also awarded first place in the theme category of the 2011 Regional Art Contest at the Parkersburg Art Center, Parkersburg. 

 

Karen won Best Of Show in the art competition at the Cynthia Bickey Art Gallery, Beckley in 2014.  She’s had art exhibitions at the Parkersburg Art Center, The Washington County Museum of Fine Art, Hagerstown, MD, Tamarack of WV,  Beckley, WV, Art Emporium, Charleston, WV, Florentine Art Center in New Martinsville, WV, WesBanco, Parkersburg, WV, Cynthia Bickey Art Gallery, Beckley, WV and The Alliance For The Arts (Paine Gallery), Bluefield, WV.

 

Karen is inspired by the Old Masters and plans to continue her studies with  some of the more prominent oil painters of today such as Laura Robb, Elizabeth Robbins, Dreama Tolle Perry, Dee Kirkham and David Cheifet. In 2013, Karen’s painting “Pomegranate And Grapes” was selected in the Favorite 15% category of the Bold Brush Art Competition which has over 1,000 entries each month.  In 2015 her painting “Garlic Pot” was also selected.

 

Karen was born and raised in Glenville, WV and attended Glenville State College and Mountain State Business College.  She and her husband, Gordon, are both retired and live in Belmont, WV. The subjects for Karen’s paintings come from their gardens and their extensive collection of Bell Pottery.
