Gallery Eleven’s Featured Artist for the month of September is Joyce Waltz Daniels, a West Virginia native with degrees in Education and Biology from Alderson-Broaddus College and West Virginia University. Joyce worked for the State Higher Education System for many years and only recently discovered her talent for painting.
”I never liked to draw, so I thought I would be no good at painting,” Daniels said. Instead, she expressed her creativity through such hobbies as handweaving and photography. “When I was introduced to abstract painting in 2009,” she said, “I became obsessed with it because it allowed me to experiment as never before with color and textures.” Her art uses many layers of mixed media textures and glazes of color.
Meet Joyce Daniels during Art Walk on September 17, between 5:00 and 8:00 PM. , Her abstracts will be on display through September 30 at Gallery Eleven, in the Medical Arts Building at 1025 Quarrier Street. The gallery is open Monday through Saturday, from 11:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
