Botanical Life at The Art Store

April 15, 2016

The Art Store is pleased to present Botanical Life, a solo exhibition of new oil paintings by artist, Edward Kellogg during ArtWalk Thursday, April 21.

Kellogg received his Bachelors of Fine Art and Master of Art in painting and printmaking from San Diego State University, and currently is a Professor Emeritus at Covenant College in Lookout Mountain, Georgia where he taught for over 35 years. He also studied at the Patmos Workshop in Toronto, Canada under Dutch artist Henk Krijger. Kellogg has been exhibiting his artwork with The Art Store since 1983.

In this recent body of work, Kellogg brings the viewer into an intimate view of streams and gives the viewer a detailed look at botanical life in the mountains with extreme close-ups focusing on the various forms of vegetation. Kellogg builds up layers of color into which he finger-paints to achieve the texture that he wants. His oil paintings have a sense of wonder to them and captures the Appalachian region beautifully.

Kellogg’s artwork has been included in numerous public and private collections as well as solo and group exhibitions, some of which include the Hunter Museum of American Art, Chattanooga, TN; Kropp and Associates, Berkeley, California; Bell South, Southern Progress Corporation, AMLI Corporation, Opryland Hotel, Sequoia Hotel, Paris, France; CSX Transportation, George Washington University Hospital, Washington, DC; and Boston University Medical School, Boston, MA.

The exhibition continues through the 27 th of April at The Art Store, located in the Downtown District of Charleston at 233 Hale Street. Hours are Tuesday – Friday 10 – 5:30; Saturday 10– 5 and anytime by appointment.
