Sherri Rowan at Deacon & Deacon
A self-taught artist, West Virginia native Sherri Rowan is an encaustic artist. Encaustic painting uses the transformative nature of heat. This medium is created from molten beeswax, tree resin, and earth pigments. By torch-fusing at around 1,400 degrees, the paint is permanently bonded to wooden canvases, forming a rigid, enamel-like surface.
