Nichole Westfall is an artist living and working in Charleston, WV. She creates artwork that focuses on violence, identity, and sexuality. Her work is based off of personal experience. It acts as a catalyst to create conversations regarding childhood, the human experience, and feminism. By working with embroidery and other mediums deemed as “women’s work,” she confronts dated, sexist, and ignorant perceptions toward women. Her work explores themes of abuse and identity – including subjects that are considered taboo by many and consist of sex, violence, pornography, Yellow Fever, and their association with the male gaze.
