“We Are All Stars” - Stellar things are happening during December at The Art Store! We are totally decorated and our Christmas Holiday exhibit is We Are All Stars. It features the stars of the visual art world: painting, photography and sculpture, plus utilitarian art (cutting boards, pottery, glass), furniture and jewelry. We do have creative Christmas ornaments and popularly priced pieces of pottery. Our deadline for custom framing needed by Christmas is December 12 at noon.
Susan Petryszack has done a “pick a birdie any birdie” series in which there will be about a dozen or more bird paintings. Other familiar names having pieces in the exhibit include Berger, Berlin, Christybomb, DutchHammer, Forbes, Gibson, Goldstein-Warren, Griffin, Hartman, Helm, Krupinski, McJunkin, Poffenbarger, Pushkin, Saffer, Smigocki, Snyder, Starcher, Stern, Martin Taylor, Trieff, Marsh Wilson and White.
The City of Charleston has gotten the holiday spirit, offering free on street parking downtown on Saturdays in December. All city parking garages are free after 5:00 pm Monday through Friday and all day Saturday and Sunday.
The Art Store will be open until 8 pm on Thursdays during December. The December Downtown Charleston ArtWalk will happen on December 20 from 5 to 8 pm. As the gallery lights go down, The Clay Center’s Art After Dark happens from 7:30 to 9:30 pm on the 20th. They will also be announcing the Holiday Window Display Contest winners!
As everyone gets ready for Santa’s visit, we will be open on Sunday, December 23 from noon to 4 pm and on Monday, December 24 from 10 to 4 pm for you last minute creative shoppers. We will be closed from December 25 to January 1. Happy New Year and we will see you in 2019.
